Career Fair Opportunity

Posted by: ROBERTA JO BELUS
On Friday, April 19th, 2024 at 12:10 PM

Greetings everybody,

I hope this message finds you and yours doing well. Hopefully we can enjoy some nice weather soon! I'm sending this on behalf of Chris as he is out of town. Our chapter was approached by the Athletic Director at Aliquippa to attend their annual career fair in May to have a table to promote officiating and to get in front of "young people" to discuss officiating and part-time work opportunities in the field. I know this may seem as a fruitless effort, but let's think outside the box as to how this could be beneficial for officiating, youth, the community and to potentialy grow our numbers. As officials we like challenges right? That being said, we are looking for a few of you willing and able to attend this event. Further, if you cannot attend to represent BVFO, perhaps your employer can have a table. Below is the link to register if you can for your job. The deadline to RSVP has been extended to April 24. If you are interested in representing BVFO, please reach out to either Chris Healy or myself so as to coordinate (DO NOT fill out the link if you want to join us, only do that if you plan on doing so for your job). We are hoping to be able to do more events like this to promote officiating moving forward and would like to do this as a "try out" and see how it goes. Thanks all for your time and attention. Enjoy the draft and what's left of the off season! Stay well.

Merry Christmas to all our football  members and their families

Message Nick Morea & Pittsburgh Steelers

Posted by: Tim Linkenheimer
On Thursday, November 30th, 2023 at 6:44 AM

I received the message from Mike Marchinsky Sr. Manager with the Pittsburgh Steelers. I have sent his message to all football officials on the WPIAL Arbiter. I am also sending this message to all Football Chapter Secretaries. PLEASE PASS ON TO YOUR CHAPTER MEMBERS. The Steelers are offering tickets for Sundays 12/3 game vs the Arizona Cardinals. There are 160 tickets available for the 1st 80 officials who send me a message back. I will be responsible for getting your name and your guest name to the Pittsburgh Steelers by this Friday noon.
So the 1st 80 officials who get back in touch with me will have tickets waiting for them and their guests at WILL CALL. Once I have 80 officials I will let the officials past 80 they did not make the list. Notice Mike does say you can pass on to your family but I need the correct names for who will be picking up the tickets at WILL CALL. Please bring some form of identification so you or the person may pick up the tickets.

Hi Nick,

We appreciate all that the high school and youth football officials do in our community and would like to invite 80 (plus a guest) of them to the Steelers vs. Arizona Cardinals game this Sunday with kickoff at 1:00 pm.

We will have their tickets at Will Call on Sunday for them.  They can pass along the opportunity to their family if they like, but just need to give you the correct name for ticket pick up.

Please send a list of names for the tickets over to this group by this Friday at noon so we can sort the tickets for them.  I have 160 tickets total for the officials.

Thanks!
Mike Marchinsky
